Deer Valley is the Ritz-Carlton of ski resorts - and I mean that without irony. They groom everything, limit ticket sales so runs are not tracked to dirt by noon, offer valet ski storage, and the on-mountain dining is from an actual culinary team. After living in Park City and skiing Deer Valley regularly, you understand that this level of hospitality is a real product choice that someone chose to do completely and well. The skiing itself is excellent - not the largest or steepest, but meticulously managed.
The skiers-only policy (no snowboards) is either wonderful or pointless depending on who you ask. Locals appreciate the slightly different snow management style it enables. Empire Canyon on the east side is where serious skiers go - steep, consistent, and the site of World Cup races.
